“First Class” – Visiting Coaches Applaud Academy Setup

Visiting coaches have hailed the professionalism, organisation, and welcoming nature provided by Worksop Town Academy, following another action-packed Saturday involving a Foundation Phase tournament and an Under-15s fixture.

The praise came primarily from York and District Schools coaches John Bryant and Gary Fort, whose Under-15s side faced the Academy, coming away with a 5-0 victory. “As promised, [Worksop Town Academy] were able to host a return fixture, giving our boys the opportunity to experience a game on the state-of-the-art pitch.” said Bryant, in a message sent to Academy staff after the game, “the welcome received from everyone at Worksop was first class, including coaches, parents and players.”

These positive reviews continue to prove the Academy’s cementation as a hub for youth football development within the local and wider community, as the programme continues to pick up momentum with every event. “Special mentions should go to [1861 Coffee Lounge and Worksop Town hospitality staff] Stacey and Richard…and [the Academy’s] young referee, who did a great job!” continued Bryant, “Gary and I have passed details over to the coaches of our other age groups and we will be encouraging them to make the trip to experience your hospitality for themselves.”

“Hopefully, this will be the start of a good relationship between our clubs for a number of years to come.”

The morning’s tournament also saw the return of Sheffield United’s youth players, who have become regular faces at the Windsor Foodservice Stadium, alongside new visitors Wakefield Schools and Skegness Town. Wakefield’s Craig McKim was also impressed, highlighting the “Fantastic facilities and great hosts” on a “great day of football” – high praise indeed considering the dreary weather on the day. Watching the games take place, the dark clouds were graciously limited to the sky, with hard-fought matches and some impressive performances across every team. As always, Worksop Town Academy extends its thanks to all of the day’s visitors for their professionalism, positivity, and dedication, as well as that of those representing the Academy itself.
