Worksop Town Academy: A Remarkable Journey of Success

Worksop Town Academy's journey over the past three years has been nothing short of remarkable. From nurturing football talent to spearheading community development, the academy has become an integral part of the Worksop community. With their new strategic plan in place, Worksop Town Academy is set to reach even greater heights, ensuring that their doors remain open to everyone. As they continue to empower individuals, forge partnerships, and foster unity, the academy's influence will extend far beyond the football field, creating a legacy of positive change in Worksop and the wider community and over the next few weeks we will reveal just how much of an impact we have already made in such a short space of time.

The first in a series of articles relating to the remarkable success of Worksop Town Academy over the past 3 years, Academy Operations Director Stephen Stennett tells us just how much of an impact the programme has made on the community and how it has supported talented young footballers from the area in taking strides towards reaching their full potential on the football field. Worksop Town Academy has been on an incredible journey since opening its doors to the community and making a profound impact to young, talented footballers from across the region. With a commitment to player and community development, the academy has not only nurtured football talent but has also reached out to support and empower individuals across the Worksop community and the surrounding areas.

Steve said, ‘With the support of our dedicated UEFA qualified academy staff, we have made significant progress in raising the standards within the academy. We have brought in talented players across all age groups who have not only contributed but also enhanced our existing talent pool with nearly 20 players now being offered terms with professional clubs in just under 3 years which is nothing short of amazing. Our commitment lies in the development of both players and the community, and we aim to continue this progress in the upcoming season.

Looking ahead to the new season, it is crucial to acknowledge the tireless work happening behind the scenes. Coach development will remain a priority as we aim to challenge our players' technical abilities and shape our new technical football development programme. Exciting events like tours, tournaments, and festivals will be hosted at Worksop Town Academy, serving as platforms for player development, nurturing talent, and education.

Our academy's impact extends far beyond football, creating a positive legacy in Worksop and the broader community. We are determined to forge ahead in the coming months, striving for continuous progress.’

The academy's highly experienced UEFA qualified coaching staff, boasting over 50 years of combined professional football experience, has played a pivotal role in shaping the talent that has emerged from their programmes. Helping nearly 20 players gain offers from professional football clubs such as; Sheffield United, Mansfield Town, Leeds United & Doncaster Rovers in such a short space of time goes to show what an incredible opportunity our player development pathway provides.
