Worksop Town Academy Scores Big with Positive Impact in Local Schools

Worksop Town Academy's impact has extended far beyond the football field. Through strategic partnerships with schools, local businesses, and community organisations, the academy has significantly expanded its reach, supporting individuals and families across Worksop, Bassetlaw and beyond. Our collaborative efforts have allowed us to tap into a wider network, providing valuable resources, guidance, and opportunities for personal and community development.

Community Partnerships Director, Jack Broadhead, who is also a first-team player for the newly promoted Worksop Town FC had this to say about the programmes:

When I was appointed to the role of Community Partnerships Director, I had the ambition to make Worksop Town a central figure within the community of Worksop and the surrounding areas. In a short period of time, we have emerged as a leading provider of a variety of different sporting initiatives, aiming to create a positive and lasting impact within the area.

Over the past twelve months, we have formed key partnerships with several schools within the Bassetlaw area where we have complemented their current provisions in the form of after-school clubs, PE lessons, and Behaviour Mentoring. Our main objective is to help children engage with sports so that they're able to benefit from the proven social and physical benefits that come with participating in sports and physical activity regularly. We are currently working with around 200 - 250 children per week in schools, receiving outstanding feedback from both staff and children. I am always looking to expand this area of the organisation and we have a number of exciting opportunities that will be introduced to our programme for the next academic year. We will be offering schools a behaviour mentoring package, school fitness programmes and a variety of different multi-sport lessons.

Worksop Town Academy is embarking on an exciting new phase with their recently launched community development strategic plan. This comprehensive roadmap aims to amplify their impact and ensure that no one in the community is left behind. With a focus on inclusivity, youth development, and community partnerships, the plan encompasses a range of initiatives designed to address diverse needs and foster a sense of unity.

Academy Director, Laurie Griffin said:

"We take pride in our past accomplishments, where we have successfully provided opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds to participate in enjoyable and engaging football sessions, promoting healthy living and social inclusion. Through our efforts, we have helped numerous players reach their full footballing potential and equipped talented local footballers to represent Worksop Town FC at the first team level.

As a community-focused organization, we have already delivered a wide range of innovative initiatives that have positively impacted various segments of our local community. By using football as a vehicle for change, we have brought about positive experiences and enjoyment for everyone involved. We have also forged partnerships with like-minded organizations that share our goal of making a positive impact on people's lives.

Looking ahead, our vision is to expand our reach and have an even greater impact on the community as we continue to grow. We aim to extend our programs and opportunities to a larger number of community members, ensuring that we create positive affiliations and provide a warm and welcoming experience for all. By reaching out to more individuals and forming additional partnerships, we strive to bring about positive change and drive even greater participation and enjoyment through football.

Furthermore, we are committed to offering young people a clear pathway for personal development through education. We believe that by combining football with further educational opportunities, we can empower individuals to achieve success on the pitch, pursue higher academic studies, or excel in the workplace.

With a firm foundation in our past achievements, we are excited about the future and the prospect of making an even more significant impact on the lives of individuals across our community. As we continue to grow and expand, our commitment to inclusivity, community engagement, and education will remain at the forefront of our efforts."
